NIA summons Syed Ali Shah Geelani's younger son to Delhi in terror funding case

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday summoned Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani's younger son, Zahoor Geelani, to Delhi on charges of receiving funds from Pakistan to sponsor terror activities and protests in the Kashmir Valley.

The NIA had on July 27 issued summons to the elder son of the Kashmiri separatist leader in the terror funding case.
The NIA had registered a case on May 30 against separatist leaders, including members of the Hurriyat, who it said were in connivance with militants from outlawed groups like Hizbul Mujahideen, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Lashkar-e-Toiba and others for raising and receiving funds.

Investigators said the funds were received by the separatists through illegal means, including hawala channels, for funding terrorist and other activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

अमेरिका द्वारा कोरियाई प्रायद्वीप में टॉमहॉक मिसाइल लगाने के खबर आने के तुरंत बाद नॉर्थ कोरिया की सरकारी संवाद समिति केसीएनए ने कोरियाई पीपुल्स आर्मी के जनरल स्टाफ के प्रवक्ता का हवाला देते हुए कहा, "हमारे खिलाफ अमेरिका की शत्रुतापूर्ण नीति और राजनैतिक, आर्थिक और सैन्य क्षेत्रों में सभी चालों का उत्तर कोरिया की तरफ से मुहंतोड़ जवाब देकर नाकाम किया जाएगा।

Assam flood situation remains critical, toll mounts to 69

Guwahati: The death toll in the Assam floods climbed to 69 as four more deaths were reported today, while nearly nine lakh people remained affected in 16 districts.

The swirling flood waters claimed a life in Dhemaji, while three others were washed away in Dhubri district, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said.

Twenty per cent area of the Kaziranga National Park is still inundated, which has affected about 35 anti-poaching camps at Kohora, Bagori and Bishwanath ghat.

The current wave of floods has badly affected animals and poultry in the affected districts.

A total crop area of 2,05,587 hectares have been affected in 29 districts, the ASDMA said.

Altogether 15,205 people have been rescued by the national and state disaster disaster response forces, CRPF, Army, police, forest police, and district administrations.

Around 1,22,850 people have taken shelter in 334 relief camps where they have been provided with food, tarpaulins, disinfectants, candles, drinking water and medicines, the ASDMA said.

दिल्लीः IGI एयरपोर्ट पर इथियोपिया के विमान की इमरजेंसी लैंडिंग

नई दिल्ली (जेएनएन)। इंदिरा गांधी अंतरराष्ट्रीय (आइजीआइ) एयरपोर्ट पर इथियोपिया एयरलाइंस के फ्लाइट की इमरजेंसी लैंडिंग करानी पड़ी। इथियोपिया की राजधानी एडिस अबाबा से 226 यात्रियों को लेकर आ रहे विमान के गियर में दिक्कत आ गई थी। संभावित दुर्घटना के अंदेशे मद्देनजर ने विमान की एमरजेंसी लैंडिंग दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर कराई गई।

एयरपोर्ट अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, पूरी छानबीन के बाद ही विमान को रवाना किया जाएगा। इससे पहले भी कई बार तकनीकी खामियों के चलते दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर कई विभानों की एमरजेंसी लैंडिंग करानी पड़ी थी।

1993 blasts case: Lawyer seeks lesser sentence to Abu Salem

MumbaiL The lawyer of 1993 Mumbai serial blast convict Abu Salem today began his arguments and sought lesser sentence to the extradited gangster before the special Tada court.

Salem's lawyer Sudeep Passbola told the court that some of the convicts, sentenced in the first set of trial, were awarded eight years imprisonment for the offence committed which was similar to what Salem was tried for.

The lawyer said he was entitled to a set-off as the extradition treaty says that he cannot be kept in jail for over 25 years.

The court will continue to hear the arguments tomorrow.

The special court had on June 16 convicted six persons and acquitted one in the case.
